HORSEBACK RIDING & WILDERNESS PACK TRIPS

Horseback riding Colorado with OutWest Guides is a treat. Located about 45 minutes from Glenwood Springs, 30 minutes from Carbondale, an hour from Aspen, and a couple of hours from Vail. We ride into the Maroon Bells/Snowmass Wilderness near Marble. Our motto, “The best horses, the best guides, and above all, the best scenery!” This has been proven time and again to thousands of happy horseback riders.

COLORADO DAY RIDES AND HOURLY HORSEBACK RIDES

We offer one-hour horseback rides for families and beginners, two-hour horseback rides, three hour rides, half day and full day horseback riding into our gorgeous wilderness. If you have ridden with us before and want to check out a different trail, please let us know and we can introduce you to a new area and many great views.  Riders must be at least 9 years old!

MONTANA-STYLE HORSE PACK TRIPS AND WILDERNESS ADVENTURES

Our overnight wilderness pack trips are an expedition into the past, with some of the comforts of the present day. We set up spacious, comfortable wall tents in our wilderness camp locations, then ride in to the base camp for an extended stay. You can enjoy watching the plentiful wildlife, go fishing for brook trout in the creek winding through camp, go on a lengthy trail ride, photograph the bounty of wildflowers, or simply relax on a lawn chair and read a book. We provide all meals. You need bring only your personal gear and a sleeping bag.

QUALITY TRAIL HORSES 

We feature Missouri foxtrotters, quarter horses, paints, and Arabians. We take excellent care of our horses, and you’ll notice the difference. Unlike most outfitters, we’re not looking for those “bottom of the barrel,” broken-down old nags. Our horses are young, fit, strong, lively, and ready to go. Our horses are gentle enough for any beginning rider, and will patiently carry them up and down the mountain. Experienced riders, however, will delight in our horses’ responsiveness and light touch. 

WILDLIFE VIEWING

The wildlife in the Marble, Colorado area is astounding. We commonly see elk and mule deer on our Colorado horseback rides, but we see a wide array of creatures from time to time, including blue grouse, ptarmigan, all manner of flickers and woodpeckers, jays, golden eagles and bald eagles, ducks, geese, redtailed hawks, goshawks, and other raptors; bighorn sheep; fox and coyotes; and even a rare lynx was recently spotted near Marble.

Not only do we have the best horses and the best guides, you’ll rarely see another person on our day rides! If you’ve ever been on one of those “industrial rides” in Aspen or Snowmass on a tired, skinny horse with 30 other riders as you plod along on a gravel road through the ski lifts and condos, you’ll never go back. We rarely take more than 5 people in one group, unless a large family or group wants to ride together. 1-hour rides: $60 per person (Limited Availability, call for information)

2-hour rides: $95 per person (4 person minimum)

3-hour rides: $135 per person (2 person minimum, no children under 12)

Half Day rides: $205 per person (2 person minimum; snack and drink included. no children under 12)

Full Day rides: $295 per person (2 person minimum; lunch included, no children under 12)

WILDERNESS PACK TRIPS

1 Night – $550 per person (Two person minimum)

2 Nights – $850 per person

3 Nights – $1200 per person

4 Nights – $1500 per person

5 Nights – $1850 per person
