Fly fishing in Colorado is an adventure you’ll always remember. OutWest Guides is located among some of the best fishing in Colorado, and the views on our streams are simply unforgettable. Our fly-fishing instructors put clients onto a wide variety of trout species, including rainbow trout, German brown trout, cutthroat trout, and brook trout.
OutWest Guides is known for top-quality professional guides who specialize in giving first-class instruction for beginning fly-fishers. Have you always wanted to learn to fly-fish? You’ve come to the right place. Our guides start from the ground up, teaching you solid fundamentals so that you’ll have success fishing on your own.
You can book an overnight pack trip into the mountains for high-country lake and small stream fishing. You’ll learn dry fly fishing and nymph fishing, the basic fly-fishing knots, hooking and playing a trout, the catch and release ethic, and basic entomology—how to choose a fly to match the hatch. The overnight high-mountain lake and stream trips are either horseback or hiking trips to a fully set-up wilderness camp.
The Crystal River that flows through Marble offers exciting fishing. Few rivers can offer the opportunity to catch all four major trout species in one day of fishing. We call it the “Colorado Slam”—netting a brook trout, German brown trout, rainbow trout, and cutthroat trout all in the same day on a fly rod. Several of our clients have done it, and many more have had a great time trying!
We fish the Crystal River around Marble, CO. Where other stretches of public water may get fished literally hundreds of times a year, our waters see very little pressure. Our fish are wild and stout.
